Job Description
The Underwriter will support the Underwriting Manager by processing policy documents, handling client inquiries, and maintaining accurate account records. Responsibilities include issuing endorsements, certificates, and assisting the claims team with required documentation. The role ensures compliance with underwriting guidelines while preserving existing business relationships.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Insurance or a related business field
- • Professional insurance certification or progress toward it
- • Minimum of one year experience in a busy underwriting environment
- • Strong analytical and risk‑assessment abilities
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adhere to underwriting policies
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Respond to customer and intermediary inquiries promptly
- • Reconcile client account statements and update records
- • Process new business policy documents and issue certificates
- • Dispatch renewal notices and manage endorsement requests
- • Issue motor, marine and yellow card certificates
- • Prepare loss‑ratio reports and review portfolio performance
- • Provide required documents to the claims department within stipulated TATs
- • Support debt‑management guidelines and retain existing accounts
