Job Description
The ECDE Caregiver provides classroom instruction and holistic support for early childhood learners, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include teaching, preparing lesson plans, and organizing play‑based activities that promote social, emotional and cognitive development. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, reporting progress, and engaging with parents and the community on curriculum matters. Candidates must hold relevant certifications and be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • KCSE certificate with minimum grade D+
- • Certificate in ECDE from KNEC, MOE or another recognised institution
- • Diploma (preferred but not mandatory)
- • Registration with the Teachers Service Commission
- • Certificate in computer applications
- • First Aid certification
- • Certificate in Kenya Sign Language

Responsibilities
- • Teach classes and deliver curriculum to early childhood learners
- • Serve as a role model, providing guidance, counseling, and motivation
- • Prepare reports and maintain accurate administrative records
- • Ensure the safety and security of all learners
- • Organise and facilitate play‑learning activities to support school readiness
- • Nurture spiritual, social, mental, moral, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth
- • Manage class documentation such as schemes of work, lesson plans, attendance registers
- • Develop and prepare play and learning materials
- • Conduct community mobilisation meetings on ECDE programmes
- • Advise children and parents on curriculum and learning matters
