Job Description
The Senior Accountant will oversee comprehensive accounting functions for a manufacturing operation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, and tax compliance. Key duties include managing accounts payable/receivable, supervising journal entries, and leading a team of junior accountants. The role demands strong analytical skills, proficiency with ERP systems, and in‑depth knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification required
- • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a manufacturing environment
- • Deep familiarity with Kenya tax laws, e‑TIMS integration, and KRA compliance procedures
- • Hands‑on proficiency in Odoo or Zoho, advanced Excel, and AI productivity tools
- • Strong leadership, communication, and team‑management abilities
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Oversee full‑spectrum accounting and internal control processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and petty cash management
- • Review and verify daily bookkeeping entries for accuracy and IFRS compliance
- • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, cost analyses, and management statements
- • Manage end‑to‑end tax compliance via KRA iTax and e‑TIMS (VAT, PAYE, WHT, corporate tax, statutory deductions)
- • Handle KRA queries and audits
- • Manage manufacturing cost accounting: cost allocation, BOM verification, inventory valuation, production wastage analysis, and participate in physical stock takes
- • Utilize ERP systems (Zoho Books / Odoo) and AI tools to automate workflows and reporting
- • Lead and mentor a team of junior accountants/bookkeepers, fostering professional development
