Job Description
The Field Technician will support the installation, testing and maintenance of submarine and terrestrial fiber‑optic infrastructure for WIOCC across Kenya. Duties include on‑site troubleshooting, equipment configuration and documentation of network performance. The role requires adherence to safety standards and coordination with engineering teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or equivalent in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- • Minimum 1 year experience in fiber‑optic installation or network maintenance
- • Ability to read technical schematics and use testing equipment
- • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Install, splice and test fiber‑optic cables and related equipment in the field
- • Perform routine maintenance and fault diagnosis on network infrastructure
- • Document installation procedures, test results and inventory updates
- • Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure timely project delivery
- • Follow health, safety and environmental guidelines during all field activities
