Job Description
The Finance Manager for M‑KOPA Solar Kenya leads the finance function, overseeing monthly reporting, treasury, compliance, and the IFRS 9 expected credit loss model. The role partners with commercial teams to analyze unit economics, model new products, and provide financial insights for strategic decisions. Responsibilities include managing the end‑to‑end close, cash‑flow forecasting, and supporting funding documentation and due diligence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- • Professional accounting qualification (CPA‑K, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
- • Several years of experience in financial reporting, treasury, and compliance.
- • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including Excel and scenario analysis.
- • Knowledge of IFRS 9, loan accounting, and credit risk management.
- • Experience in a fast‑growing fintech or asset‑financing environment is a plus.
- • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- • Ability to work under tight reporting deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare monthly management reporting packs and executive commentary.
- • Maintain and enhance the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss model.
- • Manage treasury activities, including cash positioning and banking relationships.
- • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
- • Oversee the full month‑end close: accruals, pre‑payments, intercompany, depreciation, FX.
- • Produce variance analysis separating market effects from one‑off items.
- • Monitor loan book performance, analyze repayment behavior, and own provisioning.
- • Support documentation for funding, compliance processes, and due‑diligence activities.
- • Partner with commercial teams to model unit economics, price new products, and build business cases.
- • Provide financial insights that inform board and leadership decisions.
- • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
