Job Description
The Financial Controller oversees all day‑to‑day financial operations for Avenews Kenya, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, and effective cash management. Key duties include preparing management accounts, budgeting, payroll, tax compliance, and coordinating the annual statutory audit. The role requires strong analytical abilities and proficiency with accounting systems. It reports to senior management and supports strategic financial decision‑making.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- • Professional accounting certification preferred
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance or accounting roles
- • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance
- • Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Process and reconcile customer disbursements and repayments
- • Maintain accurate general ledger and accounting records
- • Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and cash‑flow statements
- • Produce portfolio, liquidity, cost, and budget‑variance reports
- • Manage payroll, statutory deductions, and supplier payments
- • Generate daily cash‑position reports and rolling cash‑flow forecasts
- • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- • Coordinate tax filings and statutory audit activities
- • Ensure robust internal controls over payments and disbursements
- • Own month‑end and year‑end close processes, including accruals and cut‑offs
