Job Description
The Fleet Manager will oversee daily fleet operations, ensuring vehicles remain operational and drivers meet payment obligations. They will coordinate maintenance, monitor performance metrics, manage driver teams and optimise costs while maintaining accurate records. Reporting to senior management, the manager will prepare performance reports and support vehicle recovery and reassignment as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Previous experience in fleet management, transport, logistics or vehicle operations
- • Experience managing drivers or field‑based teams
- • Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and basic automotive issues
- • Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Manage daily fleet operations to keep vehicles operational
- • Monitor vehicle utilisation, performance and downtime
- • Ensure drivers make agreed payments on time and follow up on arrears
- • Recruit, onboard, assign and supervise drivers
- • Monitor driver performance, conduct and policy compliance
- • Resolve driver‑related issues and operational escalations
- • Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance
- • Liaise with garages and mechanics to minimise downtime
- • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and monitor condition
- • Maintain accurate records of fleet revenue, expenses, maintenance and activity
- • Track and ensure validity of vehicle and driver documentation
- • Manage accidents, fines, insurance claims and other incidents
- • Coordinate with garages, insurers, tracking providers and suppliers
- • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve revenue
- • Prepare regular fleet performance reports for management
- • Support vehicle recovery, reassignment and driver replacement as needed
