Job Description
The Health & Safety Officer develops and implements safety policies for Durham International Schools, ensuring a secure environment for students and staff. Duties include conducting risk assessments, delivering training and investigating incidents. The role requires knowledge of Kenyan health and safety legislation and strong communication skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health or related field
- • Minimum 2–3 years experience in health and safety management, preferably in an educational setting
- • In‑depth knowledge of Kenyan H&S legislation and best practices
- • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities
- • Ability to promote a culture of safety among diverse school community

Responsibilities
- • Develop, review and implement health and safety policies and procedures for the school
- • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections across all campuses
- • Deliver health and safety training sessions for staff, students and contractors
- • Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
- • Ensure compliance with Kenyan occupational health and safety regulations
- • Maintain safety records, incident logs and emergency response plans
