Job Description
The Tax Accountant ensures full compliance with Kenyan tax legislation while supporting commercial operations through accurate tax planning and reporting. Key duties include preparing tax returns, reconciling accounts, and advising on tax implications of transactions. The role also coordinates KRA audits and implements risk‑mitigation controls.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
- • CPA(K) qualification is an advantage.
- • Minimum four years of hands‑on experience in tax accounting, advisory, or statutory compliance.
- • Experience with KRA audits and tax reconciliations.
- • Prior experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG, or processing is desirable.
- • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities
- • Manage all tax compliance obligations, including preparation and filing of VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, and withholding tax returns.
- • Prepare tax reconciliations, provisions, and supporting schedules for monthly and annual financial reporting.
- • Review business transactions to ensure correct tax treatment and advise on tax implications for procurement, sales, and capital investments.
- • Coordinate KRA audits and statutory assessments, providing required documentation and responses.
- • Monitor changes in tax legislation, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to strengthen internal controls.
- • Support accounts payable and receivable functions as needed and assist management with tax‑related decision making.
