Job Description
The Galley Accountant maintains accurate financial records for Navy food service operations, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense accounting standards. They process transactions, reconcile accounts, prepare reports, and support audits. The role collaborates with logistics and command staff to provide timely financial information for operational decision‑making.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- • Minimum 5 years experience in accounting, preferably in government or military environment
- • Strong attention to detail and knowledge of financial compliance standards
- • Ability to obtain required security clearances and travel as needed
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Maintain accurate food service accounting records in manual and automated formats
- • Utilize the Food Service Management system to process transactions and generate reports
- • Prepare and submit financial statements, reports, and returns in accordance with Navy regulations
- • Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with DoD and Navy guidelines
- • Support compliance audits by providing complete and up‑to‑date documentation
- • Collaborate with food service personnel, leadership, and auditors to ensure consistent record‑keeping practices
- • Perform other accounting duties as assigned related to galley operations
