Job Description
The Ecotourism Consultant will provide strategic and technical leadership to design, develop and commercialise community‑led marine ecotourism initiatives along Kenya’s coastline.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in sustainable tourism development, community‑based tourism or conservation‑linked enterprise development
- • Proven track record designing and implementing community‑based ecotourism programmes
- • Strong knowledge of tourism value chains, market systems and private‑sector engagement
- • Experience in tourism product development, business development and destination management
- • Ability to facilitate participatory planning and multi‑stakeholder engagement
- • Excellent analytical, facilitation and report‑writing skills
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the assessment, design, development and commercialisation of community‑led marine ecotourism initiatives
- • Conduct feasibility studies, market analysis and business‑plan development for ecotourism projects
- • Coordinate with IFAW, community organisations, government agencies and private‑sector partners to implement tourism products
- • Ensure projects deliver measurable conservation, livelihood and community‑development outcomes
- • Prepare technical reports, proposals and documentation for donor‑funded programmes
