Job Description
The Financial Reporting Accountant will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements in line with IFRS and company policies, and support the actuarial function. Responsibilities include managing month‑end close, reviewing ledger balances, and ensuring statutory compliance. The role also drives improvements in financial controls and reporting efficiency. A professional accounting qualification and five years of experience are required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- • Professional accounting certificate (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial reporting within the insurance sector.
- • Strong understanding of IFRS standards and regulatory reporting.
- • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- • Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- • Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and support IFRS 17 data inputs.
- • Review general ledger balances, ensuring accuracy of accruals, provisions, pre‑payments and adjustments.
- • Assist in preparation of management accounts and performance reports for executive leadership.
- • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis.
- • Ensure compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, tax legislation and other regulatory requirements.
- • Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance financial controls and reporting efficiency.
