Job Description
The Agricultural R&D Manager leads the country‑wide research and development strategy, overseeing trial design, data management, and knowledge dissemination to improve smallholder outcomes. The role drives FAIR data practices, tracks efficiency metrics, and provides technical guidance to program teams. Leadership, advanced research expertise, and strong analytical skills are required. Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in agricultural sciences and possess several years of applied research experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • MBA, MSc, MA or PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy or related discipline
- • 3–5 years of experience in applied agricultural research and trial design
- • Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑site projects and lead technical teams
- • Strong analytical, reporting, and data‑management skills
- • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Define and execute the national Ag‑R&D strategy and research agenda
- • Lead design, implementation, and monitoring of field trials across regions
- • Standardize research protocols and ensure FAIR data principles are applied
- • Track R&D performance metrics, produce dashboards, and report KPI outcomes
- • Provide technical guidance and training to program teams on agronomic recommendations
- • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for input selection and crop management
