Job Description
The Anaesthetic Assistant supports anaesthesiologists in the operating theatre by preparing equipment, monitoring patients and ensuring a safe environment for surgical procedures. They assist with medication preparation, maintain sterile conditions and respond to emergencies under supervision.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Certificate or diploma in anaesthetic technology or a related health‑care field.
- • Knowledge of operating‑room procedures and anaesthetic equipment.
- • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of senior clinicians.
- • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
- • Commitment to patient safety and infection‑control standards.
Responsibilities
- • Prepare and check anaesthetic equipment and supplies before each operation.
- • Assist the anaesthesiologist with medication administration and airway management.
- • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the anaesthesiologist.
- • Maintain a sterile and safe operating‑room environment.
- • Document anaesthetic records accurately and ensure proper equipment storage.
- • Respond to intra‑operative emergencies in accordance with hospital protocols.
