Job Description

The Assistant Accountant – Receivables supports the finance office at KCA University by processing student payments, handling inquiries, and ensuring accurate financial records. Responsibilities include billing, receipting MPESA and cheque payments, reconciling daily receipts, and verifying compliance with university policies. The role requires a bachelor's degree in commerce with a focus on finance or accounting and at least one year of relevant experience. Strong computer proficiency, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance or Accounting) from an accredited university
  • • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) II qualification
  • • Minimum one year of relevant experience in a university or comparable institution
  • • Proficient computer skills for financial and accounting systems

Responsibilities

  • • Bill registered students for tuition and fees
  • • Receive and process MPESA, cheque, and direct deposit payments
  • • Handle student finance inquiries and provide timely assistance
  • • Verify, post, and issue receipts for all payments
  • • Check third‑party documents for compliance with financial policies
  • • Conduct class spot checks as needed
  • • Reconcile daily receipts summary and student accounts
  • • Ensure cheques are banked promptly and banking slips are securely stored
  • • Maintain proper documentation and filing standards
  • • Assist with financial compliance checks during end‑of‑semester exams
  • • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
