Job Description
The Assistant Workshop Manager supports the Head of Engineering by overseeing mechanical workshop operations, ensuring equipment reliability and safety across all plant divisions. They supervise maintenance activities, coordinate spare‑part preparation, and contribute to the design and implementation of machinery solutions for tea processing. The role also involves quality control, staff training, and participation in project management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent BA/BSc/HND qualification
- • Registered with the Engineering Council or relevant professional body
- • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- • Proven ability to manage workshop teams and ensure compliance with safety standards
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the mechanical workshop and ensure a safe working environment
- • Supervise maintenance of machinery and equipment across all plant divisions
- • Assist in the design and engineering of tea‑processing machinery and related equipment
- • Oversee preparation and inventory of spare parts for all divisions
- • Participate in quality control inspections of contractor work and purchased materials
- • Develop and implement machinery maintenance programmes and train staff on proper usage
- • Support recruitment and onboarding of maintenance and machine‑operating personnel
- • Contribute to project planning and execution within the engineering department
