Job Description
The Branch Accountant will oversee all financial, accounting, inventory and internal control activities for the East Africa branch of an FMCG operation. Responsibilities include maintaining ledgers, preparing reports, managing cash flow and ensuring tax compliance in a high‑volume environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- • Professional accounting certificate (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred
- • At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within FMCG, retail or distribution
- • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and numerical skills
- • High ethical standards, integrity and attention to detail
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Maintain accurate general ledgers, sub‑ledgers and financial records for the branch
- • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial management reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheet reconciliations
- • Perform monthly closing activities, journal postings and variance analyses (budget vs. actual)
- • Oversee inventory valuation, cost accounting and cash handling procedures
- • Ensure compliance with East African tax legislation and statutory filing requirements
- • Support treasury and cash‑flow management and safeguard company assets
