Job Description
The Carbon Finance Senior Officer will lead the Kenya Article 6 Readiness Project, providing technical leadership, strategic guidance and day‑to‑day project management while liaising with government, private sector and development partners to advance Kenya’s carbon market framework.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Master’s degree (MBA/MSc/MA) in Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies or a related field
- • Minimum 8 years of experience in climate finance, green investment or carbon markets
- • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently and remotely
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Lead implementation of the Kenya Article 6 Readiness Project and ensure timely delivery of outputs
- • Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance on carbon finance and climate‑related initiatives
- • Manage day‑to‑day project activities, budgets and reporting
- • Serve as GGGI’s focal point on Article 6 and carbon markets in Kenya
- • Support the Kenyan government in developing its carbon market framework and identifying mitigation activities
- • Identify and develop carbon‑finance opportunities that align with GGGI’s programme objectives
- • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, private sector stakeholders and development partners
