Job Description
The Chemical Engineer will design and size heat exchangers and scrubber systems, perform detailed engineering calculations, and develop technical specifications for industrial equipment. They will collaborate with customers to create tailored solutions and support projects from concept through commissioning. The role also includes preparing quotations, negotiating terms, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- • Good understanding of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and process engineering
- • Knowledge of heat exchanger and scrubber design principles
- • Ability to interpret process conditions such as flow rate and temperature
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Design and size shell‑and‑tube, plate, air‑cooled and other heat exchanger systems based on process requirements
- • Design and select appropriate wet scrubbers, packed‑bed scrubbers, venturi scrubbers and other gas‑cleaning systems
- • Perform engineering calculations including heat and mass balances, heat‑transfer, pressure‑drop, fluid‑flow and equipment sizing
- • Select suitable construction materials considering temperature, pressure, corrosion and chemical compatibility
- • Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs and equipment layouts as needed
- • Review customer process data and recommend appropriate heat exchanger or scrubber solutions
- • Prepare technical and commercial quotations, equipment costing, proposals and tender documents
- • Conduct customer meetings, presentations, technical discussions and site visits
- • Identify new customers and business opportunities in heat‑transfer and pollution‑control sectors
- • Follow up on quotations, negotiate technical and commercial requirements with customers
- • Coordinate with fabrication, procurement and project teams to ensure compliance with approved specifications
- • Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting
- • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and pursue repeat business
- • Ensure designs meet engineering standards, safety requirements and client specifications
- • Keep proper documentation for designs, calculations, quotations and completed projects
