Job Description
The cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across assigned office and facility areas. Tasks include dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waste collection and proper disposal, as well as ensuring cleaning equipment and chemicals are used safely. The role also involves routine inspections, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues, and restocking supplies. The position requires punctuality, reliability and adherence to health and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • KCSE certificate or a certificate in Cleaning, Housekeeping, Hospitality, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
- • Previous experience in commercial, institutional, residential, hotel, hospital or office cleaning (preferred)
- • Basic understanding of cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, safe chemical handling and workplace safety
- • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- • Punctual, responsible, trustworthy and able to follow schedules and instructions
- • Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning equipment, chemicals, waste and workplace hazards

Responsibilities
- • Clean and sanitize offices, rooms, floors, bathrooms, corridors and other assigned areas
- • Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum and clean surfaces, furniture and fixtures
- • Ensure assigned areas consistently meet cleanliness and hygiene standards
- • Collect, segregate and dispose of waste appropriately in designated areas
- • Empty, clean and maintain waste bins regularly to prevent odours and hygiene risks
- • Report any waste‑management, sanitation or environmental concerns to the supervisor
- • Use cleaning equipment, tools and chemicals correctly and safely according to instructions
- • Store cleaning materials and chemicals properly after use
- • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment
- • Conduct routine checks to identify areas requiring cleaning, replenishment or additional attention
- • Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and report shortages or damaged equipment
- • Immediately report spills, damaged facilities, safety hazards or other issues affecting hygiene or safety
