Job Description
The Communications Manager leads the organization’s communications function, shaping strategy, brand messaging and donor engagement through compelling storytelling and multi‑channel outreach. The role oversees the production of visual and written content, manages digital platforms and media relations, and ensures consistent, high‑quality communication across programmes. Collaboration with senior leadership and a communications assistant is essential to drive visibility and support fundraising goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related field (MBA/MSc/MA preferred)
- • Minimum 5 years of professional communications experience
- • Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑engagement abilities
- • Cultural sensitivity and experience working in conservation, tourism or rural development contexts in Kenya or East Africa
- • High level of organization and attention to detail
- • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and supervise junior staff

Responsibilities
- • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organizational goals
- • Define key messages, target audiences, and communication channels to enhance visibility and credibility
- • Manage an annual communications calendar covering campaigns, publications, donor events, and key activities
- • Establish and monitor communication KPIs such as reach and engagement
- • Oversee production of high‑quality visual and written materials for diverse audiences
- • Manage digital platforms including website CMS, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, and Google Analytics
- • Coordinate photography, video production, and multimedia content creation
- • Build and maintain relationships with donors, media, and community stakeholders
- • Supervise a communications assistant and collaborate with programme and management teams
- • Ensure consistent, ethical, and high‑quality communications across all channels
