Job Description
The Converting Machine Operator is responsible for running converting machinery to meet production quantity and quality targets while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Duties include monitoring machine performance, performing routine maintenance, managing waste and ensuring accurate recording of production data. The operator must uphold quality standards, handle material handling, and coordinate handovers between shifts. Strong problem‑solving and adherence to health‑and‑safety procedures are critical.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
- • Minimum of two years’ experience as a machine operator or in a similar manufacturing role
- • Practical experience operating, monitoring and troubleshooting production/converting machinery
- • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance, quality control, production processes and waste management
- • Computer literacy for accurate completion of production records and reports
- • Understanding of health and safety procedures, PPE requirements and workplace housekeeping standards
- • Good communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Ensure production output meets set quantity targets and quality specifications
- • Maintain cleanliness of crates, equipment and work area, and perform routine housekeeping
- • Manage shift operations, including machine handling, personnel supervision and proper handover
- • Control waste by weighing, recording and handing over excess material within allowable limits
- • Accurately record conversion data for each reel operated
- • Verify tail‑sealing glue consistency and stickiness before use
- • Select appropriate reels for production and confirm correct usage
- • Perform autonomous machine maintenance, tagging abnormalities with green or red tags and rectifying issues
- • Uphold quality standards and assume responsibility for any deviations from targets
