Job Description
The COSECSA Resident Training Program is a five‑year postgraduate surgery residency that provides comprehensive clinical experience, academic teaching, and research opportunities. Residents manage emergency calls, admit and treat surgical patients, participate in ward rounds, and perform operations under senior supervision. The program also includes teaching junior staff and contributing to quality‑improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS) or equivalent
- • Completion of internship and registration with the medical council
- • Strong clinical and surgical knowledge
- • Commitment to a five‑year residency training program
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Respond to emergency calls and provide immediate surgical care
- • Clerk surgical patients, admit them, and conduct investigations in consultation with senior surgeons
- • Participate in ward rounds, lectures, and training seminars
- • Rotate through multiple institutions to acquire diverse surgical skills
- • Offer outpatient and consultation clinic services to surgical patients
- • Perform surgical operations and assist senior surgeons as required
- • Review postoperative patients and ensure appropriate follow‑up
- • Conduct clinical research and present findings at seminars
- • Teach medical officers, interns, and nursing staff to enhance their professional skills
- • Contribute to quality‑improvement projects and generate required reports
