The Customs Clearance Specialist manages end‑to‑end customs procedures for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with Kenyan regulations and timely clearance. The role coordinates with authorities, verifies documentation, maintains accurate records and advises clients on duties and taxes. Strong networking with customs officials and logistics partners is essential to optimize clearance performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Clearing and Forwarding
- • Minimum five years of proven experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding or a related field
- • Familiarity with customs procedures and strong problem‑solving abilities
- • Established network of contacts within customs and logistics sectors
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Manage and coordinate customs clearance procedures for imported and exported goods
- • Ensure compliance with customs laws, import and export regulations and statutory requirements
- • Liaise with KRA, customs officials, port authorities, shipping lines, freight forwarders and transporters
- • Verify shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin and permits
- • Maintain accurate records of customs transactions, shipment documents, payments and clearance activities
- • Prepare regular reports on shipment status, clearance performance and outstanding issues
- • Advise clients and internal teams on customs requirements, applicable duties, taxes and clearance procedures
