Job Description
The Development Associate will design and assess new programmes in East Africa, collaborating with country teams to conduct feasibility studies, stakeholder mapping, and risk analysis. The role involves creating sustainable revenue and cost‑recovery models, drafting assessment memos, and guiding programme design based on findings. Additionally, the associate will develop community engagement and social accountability frameworks, ensuring programmes are responsive to local needs. Strong analytical, financial, and cross‑cultural skills are required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) or higher (MBA/MSc/MA) in a relevant field.
- • Minimum of 5 years experience in project or programme management.
- • Proven ability to conduct feasibility studies and stakeholder analyses.
- • Strong financial literacy with ability to build basic programme budgets and financial models.
- • Experience working in East Africa (e.g., Somaliland, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya) or similar contexts.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and collaborative skills.
- • Ability to design community engagement and social accountability mechanisms.

- • Collaborate with country teams to ideate and develop new programme concepts.
- • Conduct rapid feasibility assessments, including stakeholder mapping, institutional capacity analysis, community readiness evaluation, political economy analysis, and risk identification.
- • Refine programme design based on assessment findings and adapt to local implementation realities.
- • Identify sustainable revenue and cost‑recovery models to ensure programme viability beyond initial investment.
- • Produce feasibility assessment memos with clear recommendations and risk flags.
- • Design community engagement and social accountability frameworks, including pre‑implementation dialogue, feedback mechanisms, and grievance processes.
- • Ensure communities understand programme rationale and design.
