Job Description

The Economist leads the Cost‑Effectiveness Unit, developing methodologies, tools and services for cost‑effectiveness analysis, and engaging with partners to embed cost‑effective practices across projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (BA/BSc/HND)
  • • Advanced degree such as MBA, MSc or MA (advantageous)
  • • PhD or fellowship (advantageous)
  • • Minimum five years of experience in cost‑effectiveness or cost‑efficiency analysis

Required Skills

Responsibilities

  • • Build and lead the Cost‑Effectiveness Unit, establishing sustainable practice within IDinsight
  • • Develop service offerings including cost‑effectiveness audits, lean intervention design, cost‑efficient implementation support and tech‑enabled resource allocation
  • • Create standardized methodologies, tools and frameworks for sector‑wide adoption
  • • Recruit and train team members with cost‑effectiveness expertise as the unit expands
  • • Produce public goods such as guides, templates and case studies
  • • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with organizations to apply cost‑effectiveness analyses
  • • Lead engagements with partners like Pact, CARE, Living Goods and other BINGOs to integrate cost‑effectiveness thinking
  • • Support clients throughout project lifecycles, from design to implementation
