Job Description
The Environmental Law Specialist will provide expert legal analysis and policy advice to strengthen the readiness of selected Latin American countries for implementing Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The consultant will draft regulatory frameworks, engage stakeholders, and support capacity‑building initiatives. This role requires deep knowledge of international climate law and experience in multilateral environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Master’s Degree in Environmental Law, International Law or a related field
- • Minimum 5 years experience providing legal counsel on climate or environmental issues
- • Demonstrated experience working with Latin American jurisdictions is an asset
- • Strong analytical, drafting, and presentation skills
- • Fluency in English
- proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred

Responsibilities
- • Conduct legal research on climate‑related legislation and Article 6 mechanisms
- • Draft policy briefs, regulatory guidelines, and implementation tools for partner countries
- • Advise government officials and NGOs on compliance and legal risk mitigation
- • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and capacity‑building sessions
- • Produce technical reports and monitor progress of implementation activities
