Job Description
The school nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to students, including assessment, treatment, medication administration, and emergency response. She maintains accurate health records, collaborates with the on‑site doctor, and ensures the clinic environment is safe and well‑stocked. The role also involves supervising support staff and promoting health education within the school community.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) from a recognised institution.
- • Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience.
- • Valid professional registration/licence and practising certificate.
- • Certificates from recognised professional or healthcare institutions.
- • First Aid and/or Basic Life Support certification (advantageous).
- • Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Attend to male and female students presenting with illnesses, injuries, or other medical concerns.
- • Conduct holistic nursing assessments, including medical histories and vital signs.
- • Provide appropriate treatment and nursing care within professional scope.
- • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medication records.
- • Monitor students' conditions and provide follow‑up care as needed.
- • Deliver first aid and respond to medical emergencies.
- • Record medical information, vital signs, treatments, and medications confidentially.
- • Consult and coordinate with the Doctor on Duty for further assessment or referral.
- • Supervise and guide clinic support staff when required.
- • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized clinic environment.
- • Ensure proper handling and availability of medical supplies and equipment.
- • Preserve confidentiality of all student medical information.
- • Adhere to professional nursing standards, clinic procedures, and health‑safety regulations.
