Job Description
The Finance Manager for Kenya leads all financial reporting, analysis, and compliance activities for the M‑KOPA Solar entity. The role oversees the monthly close, variance analysis, loan‑book monitoring, and IFRS 9 provisioning while partnering with commercial teams to evaluate unit economics and new product opportunities. This hands‑on position requires strong modeling skills and a solid understanding of fintech finance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline (BA/BSc/HND)
- • Professional accounting qualification or relevant certification is an advantage
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, preferably within fintech or asset‑financing environments
- • Strong knowledge of IFRS 9, treasury, and financial reporting standards
- • Advanced Excel modelling skills and ability to present findings to senior stakeholders

Responsibilities
- • Prepare and deliver the monthly management reporting pack with executive commentary
- • Manage the end‑to‑end monthly close, including accruals, pre‑payments, intercompany, depreciation and FX entries
- • Perform variance analysis to isolate market‑specific effects and one‑off items
- • Monitor the loan portfolio, analyse repayment behaviour and own provisioning and bad‑debt trends
- • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and IFRS 9 reporting requirements
- • Support treasury functions, funding documentation and due‑diligence processes
- • Collaborate with the commercial team to model unit economics, price new products and build financial cases for leadership
