Job Description
The Head of Business Development for the WACAR region leads IRC’s regional business development strategy, overseeing donor outreach, proposal preparation, and partnership negotiations. Reporting to the Director of Awards Management, the role coordinates with regional leadership to identify new funding opportunities aligned with country action plans. The incumbent also manages the regional Program Development Advisor and ensures compliance with institutional donor requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field such as Business, Development, or International Relations
- • Proven experience in business development or sales within the non‑profit sector
- • Strong strategic planning, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- • Ability to lead and mentor regional staff

Responsibilities
- • Lead regional business development efforts and represent the WACAR region in global BD initiatives
- • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities in line with country strategy action plans
- • Conduct donor outreach, engagement, and relationship management
- • Oversee proposal development, due diligence, and agreement negotiations
- • Coordinate pre‑positioning and capture activities for prospective projects
- • Provide strategic guidance to the regional Program Development Advisor
- • Monitor and report on business development performance across institutional donors
