Job Description
The Head of Credit & FOSA will oversee credit and savings operations, drive loan portfolio growth and ensure effective debt recovery for the SACCO. The role includes managing a team, developing policies, and collaborating with business development to meet membership and revenue targets. Candidates must have at least eight years of financial‑institution experience, a bachelor’s degree and professional accounting qualifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Minimum eight years’ relevant experience in a financial institution, including four years in senior management
- • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
- • ACCA or CPA (K) qualification
- • Membership of a relevant professional body such as ICPAK

Responsibilities
- • Build and develop a highly motivated credit and FOSA team
- • Set performance objectives, provide feedback and identify training needs
- • Develop and enforce credit policies, procedures and relevant legislation
- • Manage relationships with other departments and act as a business partner
- • Oversee loan approval processes and allocation of loan funds across branches
- • Guide the credit committee and ensure compliance with credit policies
- • Develop strategies for sustainable FOSA revenue growth and product development
- • Implement business plans to achieve targets and budgets
- • Conduct market research with Business Development to adjust product mix
- • Lead loan recovery and collection initiatives to reduce provisioning
- • Prepare monthly credit performance reports and present to senior management
- • Coordinate and attend credit committee meetings, recording proceedings
- • Prepare the department’s annual budget and guide procurement budgeting
