Job Description
The Laboratory Technician supports physics and chemistry teaching and research by ensuring laboratory facilities operate efficiently and safely. Duties include maintaining equipment, preparing reagents, and providing technical assistance during experiments. The technician also mentors students in proper laboratory practices and contributes to the upkeep of a safe learning environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Laboratory Science or a related discipline
- • Prior experience working in an academic laboratory setting preferred
- • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and best practices
- • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities
- • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and students

Responsibilities
- • Operate and maintain physics and chemistry laboratory equipment and instruments
- • Prepare chemicals, reagents and experimental setups for teaching and research activities
- • Provide technical support to instructors and students during laboratory sessions
- • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment
- • Conduct routine calibration, troubleshooting and repairs of equipment
- • Mentor students on proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures
- • Assist in inventory management and procurement of consumables
