Job Description

The Legal & Compliance Manager will oversee regulatory, corporate, and commercial legal matters for the organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards and managing risk. Responsibilities include licensing, contract negotiation, corporate governance, and litigation management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • LLB or LLM degree (preferred)
  • • Minimum 3–6 years experience in legal and regulatory compliance, preferably in the healthcare sector
  • • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical device regulations
  • • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • • Ability to manage multiple legal projects and coordinate with internal stakeholders

Required Skills

Responsibilities

  • • Manage PPB licensing, GMP compliance, premises, manufacturing and import/export licenses
  • • Liaise with Pharmacy & Poisons Board, KEBS, NEMA, KRA Customs and other regulators
  • • Advise on WHO‑GMP, USFDA, EMA documentation from a legal standpoint
  • • Oversee product registration dossiers, IP, and trademark matters
  • • Provide company‑secretary support: board papers, resolutions, annual returns, statutory registers
  • • Advise the board on Companies Act 2015, governance, and risk issues
  • • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as distributor agreements, supplier contracts, loan documents, leases, NDAs, and employment contracts
  • • Manage vendor claims, debt recovery, and distributor defaults
  • • Handle labor‑law matters, disciplinary hearings, and HR legal issues
  • • Manage external counsel, control legal spend, and represent the company in disputes, KRA tribunals, and PPB matters
  • • Maintain a litigation tracker and provide provision advice to finance
  • • Build and maintain compliance frameworks, including SOPs, code of conduct, anti‑bribery policies, and data‑protection procedures (ODPC Act)
