Job Description
The Legal Officer will provide legal advice, draft and review contracts, and ensure compliance with financial services regulations. The role requires handling secured lending matters, consumer protection issues and AML/CFT compliance. Candidates must hold an LL.B and have at least three years of relevant legal experience. This remote position serves Mwananchi Credit Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • LL.B degree from a recognized university.
- • Minimum 3 years of legal experience in financial services, banking, micro‑finance, debt recovery or commercial litigation.
- • Strong knowledge of secured lending, regulatory compliance, consumer protection, data protection and AML/CFT.
- • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya or equivalent professional qualification.
- • Excellent analytical, negotiation and relationship‑management skills.

- • Provide legal counsel on financial services, banking and micro‑finance matters.
- • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, loan agreements and related legal documents.
- • Ensure compliance with secured lending, consumer protection, data protection and AML/CFT regulations.
- • Represent the company in dispute resolution and coordinate with external counsel.
- • Conduct legal research and keep senior management informed of regulatory changes.
