Job Description
The locum laboratory technologist provides accurate and timely diagnostic testing on an as‑needed basis, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include processing specimens, operating equipment, recording results, and maintaining laboratory records. Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
- • Minimum 2 years experience performing laboratory diagnostics
- • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- • Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection control and waste management
- • Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment

- • Perform laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently
- • Receive, identify, process and safely handle patient specimens
- • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established procedures
- • Record, verify and report laboratory results accurately
- • Implement and maintain quality control and assurance procedures
- • Observe laboratory safety, infection prevention and waste‑management protocols
- • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and results
- • Handle, store and use reagents and supplies properly
- • Keep accurate laboratory records and documentation
- • Support clinicians with timely and reliable laboratory information
- • Report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns
