Job Description
The Locum Midwife Nurse provides comprehensive maternal and neonatal care in IRC‑supported health facilities, delivering admissions, ongoing treatment, and discharge planning for mothers and newborns. She conducts antenatal assessments, monitors vital signs, orders diagnostics, and offers health education. The role also collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality obstetric and emergency care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND in Nursing or Midwifery.
- • Minimum 2 years of experience in maternal and neonatal nursing.
- • Certification in Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EMONC) preferred.
- • Valid nursing license and registration.

Responsibilities
- • Provide high‑quality nursing care during maternity admissions, hospital stay, and discharge for mothers and newborns.
- • Perform daily clinical assessments, identify complications early, and coordinate timely interventions.
- • Conduct antenatal check‑ups, monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide nutrition and birth preparation education.
- • Document patient care, prepare discharge paperwork, and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
- • Collaborate with doctors, clinical officers, and other staff to deliver coordinated obstetric and emergency care.
- • Participate in ward rounds, supervise junior staff, and support team leadership as needed.
- • Manage equipment, maintain emergency preparedness trays, and ensure compliance with national guidelines.
- • Compile daily nursing activity reports and handle equipment inventory.
