Job Description
The Manager, Maintenance and Auxiliary Services oversees all facilities, utilities and support services at USIU Africa, ensuring safe, functional and well‑maintained environments for teaching, research and residential life. The role includes planning preventive and corrective maintenance, managing vendors and complying with health, safety and environmental standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc/HND) or higher (MBA/MSc/MA preferred).
- • Minimum 5 years experience in facilities or maintenance management.
- • Strong planning, organisational and financial management skills.
- • Technical knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
- • Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making and communication abilities.
- • Ability to ensure risk management and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of university buildings, infrastructure and equipment.
- • Develop maintenance plans and schedules to minimise downtime.
- • Manage vendor contracts and supervise external service providers.
- • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
- • Monitor resource utilisation and control maintenance budgets.
- • Lead a team of maintenance staff, providing direction and performance feedback.
- • Coordinate auxiliary services such as cleaning, security and utilities.
- • Report on maintenance activities and key performance indicators to senior management.
