Job Description

The Manager of Strategic Advocacy, Research and Communications leads the development and execution of the organization’s advocacy agenda on human trafficking. This includes shaping policy recommendations, integrating survivor insights, and managing high‑level communications. The role also builds strategic partnerships with government, civil society and development partners while overseeing a team of senior professionals.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, International Relations, Development Studies, Law, Social Sciences or a related field
  • • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in strategic communications, advocacy, policy, research or a combination of these areas
  • • At least 3 years in a management or senior technical role
  • • Proven experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies
  • • Experience conducting or managing research and policy analysis
  • • Strong background in producing policy briefs, research reports and strategic communications products
  • • In‑depth understanding of human trafficking, human rights, gender and migration issues
  • • Demonstrated ability to engage government officials, policymakers, civil society, media and other stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • • Develop and implement the organization’s advocacy strategy and annual plan
  • • Identify strategic policy and legislative priorities related to human trafficking
  • • Monitor national, regional and international anti‑trafficking policy developments
  • • Design advocacy approaches to influence policy, legislation, institutional practice and resource allocation
  • • Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, parliament, county authorities, regional organisations, civil society and development partners
  • • Represent the organization in policy dialogues, technical working groups and conferences
  • • Ensure advocacy is grounded in credible evidence and survivor expertise
  • • Create mechanisms for safe and meaningful survivor participation in advocacy initiatives
  • • Work with the Survivor Advisory Board to inform advocacy priorities
  • • Protect survivor confidentiality, dignity and safety throughout advocacy activities
  • • Translate programme evidence and survivor‑informed learning into practical policy recommendations
  • • Develop and execute strategic communications to amplify advocacy outcomes
