Job Description
The Transport Finance Manager will lead ITDP Africa’s efforts to secure sustainable funding for transport projects across the continent. The role involves shaping financing frameworks, engaging with governments and development banks, and preparing investment‑ready programmes. The manager will also provide strategic advice on public‑private partnerships and climate‑aligned financing mechanisms.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, MA) or PhD/Fellowship in finance, economics, transport planning or a related field.
- • Minimum 10 years of experience in transport finance, development finance or related sectors.
- • Proven track record of mobilising public and private investment for infrastructure projects.
- • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities
- • Provide independent technical and strategic leadership for sustainable transport financing across African cities.
- • Strengthen national and sub‑national frameworks to ensure continuous transport funding.
- • Engage with governments, multilateral development banks, and financing partners to mobilise investment.
- • Identify and structure appropriate financing mechanisms for public transport, electrification, walking and cycling projects.
- • Enhance financial and institutional readiness of priority projects.
- • Connect transport programmes with public, concessional, climate and private capital sources.
- • Advise on policy and planning priorities to create investment‑ready programmes.
