Job Description
The Market Merchant Activator role focuses on onboarding, activating, and recruiting new merchants to a digital payments ecosystem. The position involves conducting field visits, completing KYC documentation, and driving merchant usage to increase transaction volumes. It also includes training merchant staff on platform usage and maintaining ongoing engagement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • BA/BSc/HND or Diploma
- • 1–2 years experience in sales or business development, preferably in digital payments
- • Strong communication, persuasion and customer engagement skills
- • Ability to conduct structured field visits and manage daily activity plans
- • Basic data capture and reporting skills using mobile tools or simple Excel
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Identify, recruit, and onboard new MSME merchants within assigned catchment areas
- • Drive rapid onboarding of existing customers not yet active on the platform
- • Complete and submit all onboarding documentation, including KYC and merchant forms
- • Activate onboarded merchants to achieve their first transaction within defined timelines
- • Support merchants to sustain payment processing and increase transaction volumes
- • Conduct follow‑up visits to reduce dormancy and improve usage
- • Perform daily field visits based on approved work plans covering assigned branches
- • Train merchants and their staff on platform usage and best collection practices
