Job Description
The Mathematics Tutor will deliver two weekly tutoring sessions for Grade 7‑8 learners over a 12‑week research study, using a structured framework to promote independent problem‑solving. The tutor provides brief, targeted coaching, monitors learner progress and maintains a supportive learning environment aligned with research protocols. Responsibilities also include adhering to the prescribed Khan Academy curriculum and ensuring consistent instructional delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Degree or diploma in education, mathematics or a related discipline
- • Ability to follow research protocols and deliver structured tutoring sessions
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities
- • Conduct two 40‑minute mathematics tutoring sessions per week for 12 weeks
- • Use the Common Help Ladder framework to provide brief, targeted coaching
- • Encourage independent problem‑solving through guided questioning
- • Keep learner interactions brief (2‑3 minutes) to maintain consistency
- • Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment
- • Follow approved research protocols for all instructional support
- • Deliver curriculum using the Grade 7/8 Khan Academy pathway covering proportional relationships, equations, linear relationships, geometry and measurement
