Job Description
Mechanical Engineers at Zb Constructions will lead the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical systems for high‑value building and industrial projects. They will develop HVAC, plumbing, fire‑protection and piping solutions, produce detailed calculations and drawings, and oversee installation, testing and commissioning. The role also includes cost estimating, budget monitoring and ensuring compliance with Kenyan and international codes. Strong analytical abilities and effective stakeholder communication are essential.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- • Minimum 5 years progressive experience on high‑value building or industrial projects
- • Strong knowledge of HVAC, fire‑protection, plumbing and piping systems
- • Proficiency with mechanical design and simulation software such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP or Trane TRACE
- • Familiarity with international codes (ASHRAE, NFPA) and Kenyan mechanical standards
- • Demonstrated ability to manage project lifecycles from design through commissioning
- • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Responsibilities
- • Lead mechanical design, calculations, drawings and technical documentation for projects
- • Design and coordinate HVAC, piping, fire‑protection, plumbing and related mechanical systems
- • Coordinate mechanical works with structural, electrical, architectural and other engineering disciplines
- • Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems
- • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates
- • Monitor project budgets, schedules and cost controls for mechanical works
- • Advise on procurement of equipment and materials such as chillers, pumps and fire‑protection systems
- • Support procurement negotiations and manage vendor performance
- • Ensure compliance with approved designs, technical standards, HSE requirements and Kenyan regulations
- • Maintain safety certifications and project documentation for mechanical systems
- • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
