Job Description

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will ensure reliable operation of plant machinery, refrigeration systems and associated equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs. The role also oversees spare‑part management and supervises maintenance staff to maintain high safety and production standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • • 5–7 years proven experience in plant or manufacturing maintenance
  • • Strong hands‑on experience with industrial refrigeration and cold‑chain systems
  • • Knowledge of diesel generators, electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics and plumbing
  • • Experience in preventive maintenance planning and scheduling
  • • Proven supervisory experience of technicians and contractors
  • • HVAC or refrigeration certification is an advantage
  • • Experience in food processing or similar manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • • Lead maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical plant equipment
  • • Manage industrial refrigeration systems, blast freezers, cold rooms, conveyors, dryers and ventilation systems
  • • Plan, implement and monitor preventive and planned maintenance schedules
  • • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and execute corrective actions
  • • Supervise technicians, contractors and maintenance activities safely and efficiently
  • • Lead equipment installation, testing, commissioning and handover
  • • Manage maintenance spare parts, tools, costs and external contractors
  • • Maintain accurate records of equipment downtime, maintenance activities and repairs
  • • Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • • Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety and environmental standards
  • • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs
