Job Description
The Critical Care Medical Officer delivers high‑quality assessment, stabilization and ongoing management of critically ill patients within the intensive care unit. The officer ensures accurate documentation, coordinates specialist referrals and communicates patient progress to families. Continuous professional development and adherence to evidence‑based protocols are integral to the role.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Relevant medical qualification (e.g., MBBS or equivalent)
- • Minimum two years of clinical experience, preferably in inpatient or critical care settings
- • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
- • Commitment to ethical practice and patient safety
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Assess, stabilize, diagnose and manage critically ill patients in the Critical Care unit
- • Document patient history, examinations, investigations and treatment plans accurately
- • Initiate and maintain appropriate therapeutic interventions according to hospital protocols
- • Coordinate timely specialist consultations and referrals as needed
- • Provide daily updates on patient status to families and facilitate admissions and discharges
- • Perform clinical procedures within scope of training and conduct regular ward rounds
- • Promote evidence‑based practice and pursue continuous skill improvement
- • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care
