Job Description
The National Programme Officer – Protection & Gender leads the design, implementation, and monitoring of protection and gender initiatives for IOM in Kenya. The officer ensures programmes are gender‑responsive, align with humanitarian standards, and achieve measurable outcomes. Coordination with partners, field teams, and donors is essential to deliver effective assistance to vulnerable populations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Development, or a related field
- • At least three years of experience managing protection or gender programmes in a humanitarian context
- • Strong understanding of UN and IOM protection guidelines and gender frameworks
- • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder‑engagement skills
- • Ability to work in multicultural environments and travel as required

- • Develop and implement protection and gender strategies and work plans
- • Coordinate programme activities with partners, field staff, and stakeholders
- • Monitor and evaluate project performance against targets and indicators
- • Ensure gender mainstreaming and protection standards are integrated into all interventions
- • Prepare technical reports, case studies, and donor documentation
- • Conduct trainings and capacity‑building sessions on protection and gender issues
- • Provide technical guidance to field teams and oversee case management
- • Contribute to budgeting, resource allocation, and procurement processes
