The Oncology Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, ensuring safe administration of treatments and monitoring for side effects. The role involves patient education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and strict infection‑control practices to support optimal outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree preferred
- • Minimum 2 years experience in a busy oncology unit or comprehensive cancer centre
- • Strong clinical knowledge of oncology protocols and safe medication administration
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- • Commitment to ethical practice and professional integrity
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine procedures safely
- • Monitor patients for treatment‑related side effects and report adverse reactions promptly
- • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication adherence and symptom management
- • Collaborate with oncologists, physicists, radiotherapy technologists, pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams
- • Maintain strict infection‑prevention and control measures for immunocompromised patients
- • Document all nursing interventions, observations and patient progress accurately
