Job Description
Provides comprehensive nursing care to eye patients and delivers emotional and psychosocial support throughout the treatment journey. Coordinates pre‑operative preparation, intra‑operative assistance, post‑operative care and follow‑up consultations. Utilises specialised ophthalmic nursing skills and counselling techniques to improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution
- • Valid registration and practising licence with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- • Specialized training in ophthalmic nursing or an equivalent qualification
- • Certification in counselling psychology, guidance or a related field (preferred)
- • At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in an eye hospital or ophthalmic setting
- • Current BLS/First Aid certification (advantageous)

Responsibilities
- • Deliver nursing care to ophthalmology patients across all stages of treatment
- • Prepare patients for eye surgeries and assist during procedures
- • Provide post‑operative monitoring, medication administration and follow‑up support
- • Offer counselling and emotional support to patients with visual impairment or undergoing surgery
- • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with clinical protocols
