Job Description
The Paint Colour Matcher / Tinting Technician is responsible for accurately reproducing customer colour specifications, formulating paint shades, and maintaining colour quality throughout production. The role involves laboratory work, production support, and troubleshooting colour issues to ensure consistent product standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Minimum 3 years practical experience in paint colour matching, preferably with water‑based interior and exterior paints
- • Strong colour perception and attention to detail
- • Proven ability to work independently and troubleshoot formulation issues
- • Familiarity with pigments, colourants, tinting pastes and colour systems
- • Experience preparing laboratory samples and maintaining formulation records
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Accurately match customer, standard and reference colours using colour cards and samples
- • Prepare and adjust paint shades to achieve required colour strength and consistency
- • Develop, maintain and document colour formulations in the laboratory
- • Produce laboratory paint samples and colour panels for evaluation
- • Monitor batch‑to‑batch colour consistency during production
- • Compare production colours against approved standards and recommend corrective actions
- • Investigate and resolve colour‑related problems such as shade variation, pigment dispersion and flooding
- • Support quality‑control activities related to colour and appearance
- • Provide technical input to production and quality teams on colour formulation and tinting requirements
- • Maintain a clean, organised work area and follow safety and quality procedures
