Job Description
The Programme Specialist provides strategic technical leadership on climate‑change adaptation, linking demographic resilience, SRHR and gender equality. They coordinate UNFPA’s climate work, advise policy, and lead the Interdivisional Technical Working Group, while supporting advocacy at global, regional and country levels.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • MBA, MSc or MA in a relevant field
- • Minimum 7 years experience in international development or UN‑type environments
- • Proven ability to analyse climate‑change intersections with demographic trends
- • Strong policy analysis, advocacy and capacity‑building skills
- • Excellent written and oral communication in English
- additional UN language a plus

Responsibilities
- • Lead UNFPA’s engagement with internal and external stakeholders on climate‑change adaptation
- • Provide high‑level strategic, technical and policy guidance on climate‑action and demographic resilience
- • Coordinate the corporate Interdivisional Technical Working Group on Climate Change
- • Support policy‑advocacy activities at global, regional and country levels
- • Translate complex evidence into actionable policy and program recommendations
- • Strengthen capacity of regional and national focal points on climate‑action initiatives
