Job Description
The Programme Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership and quality assurance for producer‑organisation development across dairy and poultry value chains. The role supports financial management, governance strengthening, market linkage, gender mainstreaming and capacity‑building activities for cooperatives, CBOs and self‑help groups in Kenya.
Qualifications & Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Cooperative Management, Finance, Rural Development or related field
- • At least 5 years’ experience in producer‑organisation or cooperative development, including 2 years in a technical leadership role
- • Demonstrated expertise in cooperative governance, financial management, market linkages and gender mainstreaming
- • Post‑graduate training in Gender and Development, Monitoring & Evaluation or CPA certification is an advantage
Required Skills
Responsibilities
- • Develop and oversee annual and quarterly work plans, ensuring alignment with programme components
- • Review and quality‑assure Transition Action Plans and producer‑organisation recovery plans
- • Lead financial management and governance strengthening for cooperatives and self‑help groups
- • Facilitate access to finance through partnerships with banks, SACCOs and development finance institutions
- • Conduct market assessments, coordinate buyer mapping and design group marketing contracts
- • Promote quality‑based payment systems and input‑quality management in poultry
- • Mainstream gender equality, youth inclusion and safeguarding across all interventions
- • Design and deliver training, coaching and on‑the‑job support for field teams and organisation managers
- • Monitor implementation, evaluate outcomes and provide technical coaching throughout the pilot cycle
